The mission of Tishomingo County Sheriff's Office is to maintain order and provide professional law enforcement services to citizens in the community. This office strives to enforce the law and maintain order in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing the need for justice, and consistent appearance of justice. The sheriff recognizes that no law enforcement agency can operate at its maximum potential without supportive input from the citizens it serves. This office solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens to reduce crime and to assist in bringing to justice those that break the law.

Tishomingo County is located in the northeastern corner of the state of Mississippi. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county covers a total of 445 square miles with a population of 19,163. Tishomingo County is bordered by Hardin County, Tennessee to the north, and Colbert and Franklin County, Alabama to the east.

Tishomingo County has four major highways, including U.S. Highway 72, Mississippi Highways 4, 25, and 30. The Natchez Trace Parkway winds through the county from the Alabama state line into neighboring Itawamba County. The county boasts two large lakes, Pickwick Lake on the north, and Bay Springs Lake on the south; these two lakes are connected by the 29-mile long divide cut on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. Both lakes, along with the divide cut, provide excellent recreational opportunities. Servicing these lakes are six marinas, three of which are full-service. Tishomingo County boasts the largest inland marina in the United States. Woodall Mountain, the highest point in the state, is located just off Highway 25, south of Iuka.

Tishomingo County has a unified school district consisting of two high schools, one middle school, three elementary schools, and one vocational-technical school. All schools are rated Level 5 Superior and Level 4 Exemplary. Tishomingo County schools rate in the top 5% of all schools in the state.
