FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT WARRANTS

  1. What do I do if I have an active warrant?

Those with warrants are advised to surrender themselves at the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Office at 1208 Bettydale Drive in Iuka or at the Tishomingo County Justice Court Office inside the Courthouse on 1008 Battleground Drive in Iuka.  If you are unable to pay the full amount of bond or fines, arrangements can be made for you to contact a bail agent or bondsman. Other options will include paying the bond in cash or setting up a payment plan.

  2. What if I am no longer residing in Tishomingo County or the State of Mississippi?

Individuals with felony and misdemeanor warrants may surrender themselves to the law enforcement agencies of surrounding counties where extradition arrangements can be made. If the warrant fees are a payable amount, it may be possible to submit those fees to the Tishomingo County Court Justice Court and avoid arrest.

  3. What determines the amount of the bond?

Normally, the judge issuing the warrant sets the bond amount. Bond amounts are set to ensure that an individual attends all appointed court dates and are required before allowing a person to leave jail.

  4. What if I know the whereabouts of someone with an active warrant?

If you know the whereabouts of the party and feel that the person is a threat to the general public, you may dial 911. If you know where the person lives, works, or can be found call the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Office at (662) 423-7000 or submit the information anonymously by using the link on the left of this page.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD SOMEONE OUTSIDE LAW ENFORCEMENT ATTEMPT TO APPREHEND A WANTED SUBJECT.

  5. Will I remain Anonymous?

Tips may be submitted without disclosing information of the reporting party. You may submit an anonymous tip by clicking the link to the left.  You only need to supply your name is you wish, your tip will be submitted either way.

  6. How do I file criminal charges against someone?

In order to file a complaint, you will need to visit the Tishomingo County Justice Court Offices and swear out an affidavit. Please be aware that the court clerks CANNOT help you with the information you will need. You must know this in advance.  We recommend you speak with an officer or investigator first. Contact our office at (662) 423-7000 for assistance.

There is no charge to file an affidavit with the court. However, if you change your mind and then wish to drop those charges, there is a fee involved to dispose of the affidavit.  Contact the Clerk of the Court for the current fee amounts. You may contact the Tishomingo County Justice Court by dialing (662) 423-7033.  In order to complete an affidavit you must have the following:

    - who are you charging with an offense
    - an address or description of where the person may be found
    - at least one legal identifier, preferably two (date of birth, social security number)
    - what you are charging the person with (if you do not know, consult with an investigator)
