TISHOMINGO COUNTY INMATE CHARGED WITH CONTRABAND
March 20, 2017
The Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department in conjunction with the Tishomingo County Jail, conducted a “shakedown” at the County Jail. The “shakedown” was done as a safety measure and is conducted periodically throughout the year. The recent “shakedown” turned up some smaller contraband items, such as tobacco and other things, but a search of an inmate’s bunk was found to have at least 5 knives, or “shanks” hidden within the mattress. The Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department conducted an internal review and found the items had come from a door and door frame that was being repaired. Sheriff Daugherty stated that these types of incidents will not be tolerated by anyone that is being housed at the Tishomingo County Jail and that it will be treated with the utmost urgency and penalty. The inmate that is being charged is as follows:
MICHAEL DAKOTA LUMKIN, 24-year-old, white male of 6661 Hwy 43 Poplarville, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTRABAND (KNIVES) / 5 Counts each. Justice Court set bond for LUMKIN at $50,000.00. LUMKIN has been in custody at the Tishomingo County Jail since November of 2016 and is in custody on an OUTSTANDING CAPIAS WARRANT for BURGLARY OF DWELLING that occurred in 2015. LUMKIN is also property of the Mississippi Department of Corrections at this time. Sheriff Daugherty states that LUMKIN’s case will be presented to the next available GRAND JURY.
