September 28, 2018
On September 25, 2018, Tishomingo Sheriff deputies conducted a traffic stop on HWY 25 in Iuka due to ongoing complaint of thefts in the immediate area. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot and ran into a house that the deputies learned was where the driver lived. The driver was found hiding in the bathroom of the residence. A female that was in the vehicle was then detained. While the deputies were in the residence, several bags of alleged METHAMPHETAMINE were found in the residence as well as some items that have been reported as stolen. Both the driver, RICHARD HAMMETT and the female passenger, ANTONETTE HODEL were arrested and transported to the Tishomingo County Jail.
After further investigation into some of the items recovered, it was learned that HAMMETT had a Mississippi Department of Corrections ARREST WARRANT for not reporting to his probation officer in Desoto County. Also, investigators learned where HAMMETT took some of the items and one of the victims were able to recover approximately 80% of the stolen items back. These items that were recovered consisted of assorted steel parts, assorted machines, antique farm items, and cylinders that have a value of or around $9,600.
ANTONETTE HODEL, 40-year-old, white female of 1995 HWY 25 Iuka, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAMINE). HODEL’s bond was set by Justice Court at $2,500.
