TRAFFIC STOP LANDS BELMONT MAN IN JAIL

On January 9, 2019, Tishomingo County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on HWY 25 in Belmont for Improper Equipment. During the traffic stop, deputies could smell an odor of alleged MARIJUANA coming from the vehicle. Deputies then conducted a search of the vehicle where alleged MARIJUANA, METHAMPHETAMINE, along with some drug needles. The passenger claimed ownership of the narcotics and was arrested and transported to the Tishomingo County Jail.
ALEXANDER SPARKS, 26-year-old, white male of 31 Main Street Belmont, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAMINE). This case will be presented to the next available Grand Jury.
