JOINT OPERATION CONDUCTS CHECKS ON LOCAL BUSINESS

On Friday March 15, 2019, a joint investigation was conducted between the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC), Iuka Police Department and the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Office. This investigation was done on businesses that are permitted to sell Beer and Liquor in Tishomingo County. During the course of this investigation, eight businesses in total were checked using minor’s possession their Valid Mississippi Driver’s License, which showed their true age to be 17 years old.

The persons who received citations will have a court date in the Tishomingo County Justice Court on MISDEMEANOR CHARGES and the businesses where the violations occurred could face administrative fines and suspensions of their permits.
Currently no state statue exists requiring businesses to check an ID. State statue does require that the persons purchasing alcoholic beverages or beer must be 21 and the only way to verify the age is by the clerks checking ID’s.
