TRAFFIC STOP SENDS AN IUKA MAN AND WOMAN TO JAIL

On June 17, 2019, Tishomingo County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on CR 200 in the Iuka area for running a stop sign. During the stop, it was determined that the driver had a WARRANT for their arrest from the Iuka Police Department. The passenger had an open container of alcohol and both the driver and the passenger were immediately arrested. The driver and passenger were placed in separate patrol vehicles and transported to the Tishomingo County Jail. While in route to the jail, the driver attempted to hide some alleged METHAMPHETAMINE in the deputy’s patrol vehicle and was caught in the act. Once at the jail, the passenger attempted to hide drugs after she entered the jail and a female corrections officer retrieved two (2) bags of alleged METHAMPHETAMINE from the passenger during a search of her person.
ALBERT POWELL, 49-year-old, black male, of 229 Maple Street Iuka, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE and FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAMINE). POWELL remains in the custody of the Tishomingo County Jail where he awaits his bond to be set by the Tishomingo County Justice Court.
AMANDA SMITH HARE, 38-year-old, white female, of 12C CR 200 Iuka, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY INTRODUCING OF NARCOTICS INTO A CORRECTIONAL FACILITY, and FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAMINE). HARE also remains in the custody of the Tishomingo County Jail where she awaits her bond to be set by the Tishomingo County Justice Court.
