INVESTIGATION LEADS TO FELONY ARREST

On January 9, 2020, the Tishomingo County Sheriff's Office were conducting an investigation and deputies along with investigators, received a Permission to Search of a residence located at 826 HWY 365 North in the Burnsville area. During the search of the residence, multiple subjects were located in the home and were detained while conducting the search. A vehicle was found in the carport of the residence and when law enforcement checked the vehicle and discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of McNairy County, Tennessee. Also, during the search, a rifle was found in a closet area and one of the detained subjects claimed ownership of that rifle. That subject was later identified as a Convicted Felon. It was also discovered that the same subject was also involved in the stolen vehicle found at the residence as well. Deputies then transported this individual to the Tishomingo County Jail.
DENNIS EARL SIMPSON, 55-year-old, white male of 1334 HWY 364 Iuka, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF WEAPON BY FELON and POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY. SIMPSON's bond was set by the Tishomingo County Justice Court at $5,000. SIMPSON also has a "hold" placed on him by the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), due to currently being on probation with the MDOC.
