DRUG AND ASSAULT ARRESTS MADE

 

September 23, 2016

 

On September 21, 2016, Tishomingo Sheriff Department deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The deputies had dealt with the driver of the vehicle in the past and knew that the driver had suspended license to operate a motor vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, the deputies requested the K9 officer to come to the location and once there, the department’s K9 “Robbie”, detected the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle, this then lead to a search conducted by the deputies of the vehicle. The search yielded some alleged METHAMPHETAMINE as well as drug PARAPHERNALIA. The driver was then transported to the Tishomingo County Jail.

CLIFTON RHODES, JR., 34-year-old black male, 22 CR 432 Tishomingo, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAMINE). RHODES, currently is in custody of the Tishomingo County Jail awaiting bond to be set.

 

Also on September 21, 2016 Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department responded to a call from the NMMC-Iuka Emergency Room. Hospital staff informed the Sheriff’s Department, that a white male had been brought to the hospital in a private vehicle and it appeared that the white male had been stabbed several times. Tishomingo Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the hospital and was able to quickly speak with the Victim prior to the Victim being air-lifted to NMMC-Tupelo for emergency surgery. Deputies then received a call at the Victim’s residence and once there the deputies found the wife of the victim, to which the wife was holding onto a knife that appeared to have blood on it. The wife was detained and transported to the Tishomingo County Jail. The Victim is currently in stable condition after receiving emergency surgery to his shoulder area.

JULIE ANN NEWCOMB, 37-year-old white female, 4-A CR 206 Burnsville, Mississippi was officially charged with DOMESTIC VIOLENCE (AGGRAVATED ASSAULT). NEWCOMB also is currently on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections and MDOC has requested a hold be placed on NEWCOMB as well. NEWCOMB is currently in custody of the Tishomingo County Jail awaiting bond to be set on the new charge.
