MORE DRUG ARRESTS MADE

October 31, 2016

On October 27, 2016, Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department along with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Belmont Police Department, stopped two vehicles in the Belmont area due to an investigation into illegal narcotic complainants. After speaking to the occupants of both vehicles, a Consent was obtained and a SEARCH for both vehicles yielded alleged METHAMPHETAMINE. At this time, Tishomingo Sheriff deputies arrested RANDY JAMES and transported JAMES to the Tishomingo County Jail.

RANDY JAMES, 57-year-old, white male, of 51 Main Street Belmont, Mississippi, was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAMINE). JAMES bond has been set at $5,000.00.

Sheriff Daugherty stated that this is an ongoing investigation and more arrests will be made. Sheriff Daugherty also added that this is an example of departments both local, county, and state, working together to make our community better. Sheriff Daugherty would like to thank the Belmont Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics in their assistance.

On October 28, 2016, Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on HWY 25 in the Tishomingo area for reckless driving. During the course of the traffic stop, the deputy noticed what appeared to be drug paraphernalia in the vehicle in plain view and asked the driver of the vehicle as well as the passenger to step out of the vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger complied and a Consent to Search was given to the deputy by both the driver and the passenger. The search yielded some alleged METHAMPHETAMINE being found in a pocket on the passenger as well as alleged METHAMPHETAMINE was found in a hidden compartment of the vehicle. More paraphernalia was found throughout the vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger was then arrested and transported to the Tishomingo County Jail.

Once at the jail, a further search of the driver and passenger was conducted by Corrections officers and the driver was found to be in possession of some alleged METHAMPHETAMINE as well. Both the driver and the passenger were then booked into the Tishomingo County Jail.

KEVIN SMITH, 43-year-old, white male of 180 Main Street, Saltillo, Tennessee was officially charged with FELONY INTRODUCING DRUGS INTO A CORRECTIONAL FACILITY. No bond has been set on SMITH.

CHARLES DESHAIZER, 52-year-old, white male of 320 Cumberland Street Apt #5 Savannah, Tennessee was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAMINE) WITH INTENT TO SELL. No bond has been set on DEHSAIZER as well.
