UPDATE TO SCHOOL LOCKDOWN
December 7, 2016
The Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department was made aware of the Burnsville School being placed on a lockdown. This lockdown was not done at the request of the Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department, but was made by the school officials at their discretion.
The Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department initially received a call of a possible Domestic Disturbance that occurred at a residence close to the school. Deputies arrived on scene and were able to speak with the caller and was not able to verify the totality of entire situation, pertaining to the alleged male assaulting the alleged Victim as well as if the alleged male did in fact have a weapon. We treated the call as we do all others, with extreme diligence and care. Even though we did not ask the school to go to what is known as a “soft lock-down”, we appreciate the overall actions of protecting the children. At no time were any of the students, nor facility in any danger based on the nature of this call.
