SAFETY CHECKPOINTS LEAD TO SEVERAL FELONY ARRESTS

The Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department along with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics have made multiple FELONY drug arrests. At least 4 individuals were arrested and charged with FELONY drug charges in 1 day during 2 different incidents and another arrest was made after New Year’s Day. The information and arrests are as follows:
On December 28, 2016, the Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department was conducting a Safety Checkpoint in the area of CR 944 in Burnsville. During the course of the Safety Checkpoint, a van pulled up with at least 3 occupants in it. After the deputies were able to speak with all 3 occupants, the deputies believed that all were under the influence of some type of narcotic. The deputies asked for and received permission to search the vehicle for any illegal substance. Deputies were able to recover several bags of alleged METHAMPHETAMINE and bags of some alleged COCAINE. All 3 occupants were transported at this time to the Tishomingo County Jail. Investigators then contacted the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) about the arrests and MBN then provided assistance to the Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department.
- MARK MATHIS, 42-year-old, white male of Corinth, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAMINE) and FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (COCAINE). Justice Court set MATHIS’ bond at $15,000.00 ($7,500.00/a piece).
- LAYLA ADAMS, 25-year-old, white female of Iuka, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAMINE) and FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (COCAINE). Justice Court set ADAMS’ bond at $10,000.00 ($5,000.00 /a piece).
- HOLLY MULLINS, 25-year old, white female of Booneville, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAMINE) and FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (COCAINE). Justice Court set MULLINS’ bond also at $10,000.00 ($5,000.00 /a piece).
All three of these are currently out on bond and will be presented to the next available Grand Jury.
Also on December 28, 2016 the Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department arrested another Suspect at the same Safety Checkpoint on CR 944 in Burnsville. A pickup truck was met by deputies at the Safety Checkpoint, and once the driver’s license was ran, it was learned by the deputies that the driver had Suspended Driver’s License. The passenger was then checked and a FELONY amount of alleged HYDROCODONE was found on his person. The passenger was transported to the Tishomingo County Jail.
- MICHAEL MARLAR, 33-year-old white male of Corinth, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUSBSTANCE (HYDROCODONE). Justice Court set MARLAR’s bond at $5,000.00 for the FELONY. Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics assisted in this arrests as well. MARLAR is currently out on bond pending a Grand Jury investigation.
On January 3, 2016, the Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department conducted another Safety Checkpoint this time in the area of CR 1 and CR 2. A vehicle approached the Safety Checkpoint and the deputies learned that the driver of the vehicle had Suspended Driver’s License. During a search incident to arrest, deputies also discovered some alleged METHAMPHETAMINE along with a syringe with some alleged METHAPHETAMINE inside in, located in the floorboard of the vehicle. Deputies also discovered a syringe with alleged METHAMPHETAIMNE located in the arm rest of the vehicle as well. The driver was then transported to the Tishomingo County Jail.
- TIMOTHY BRIAN BLACK, 41-year-old, white male of Golden, Mississippi was officially charged with FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAIMNE). Justice Court set BLACK’s bond at $3,500.00. BLACK remains in custody at the Tishomingo County Jail and also has a Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) hold placed on him as well.
Sheriff Daugherty wants to thank the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics for their help in the arrests of these Suspects and wants to also remind the citizens of Tishomingo County that his department will continue their efforts that were started when his administration took office, of arresting those that break the law and also protecting the people of this community from those that are doing wrong.
