ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING SENDS ONE TO HOSPITAL

On January 14, 2017, the Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department responded to the North Mississippi Medical Center – Iuka, due to a person being brought to the hospital in a private vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. The deputies learned that the Victim, was in fact a juvenile and after speaking with family members, learned that the Victim along with a brother were target practicing and while the Victim was trying to take the .9mm pistol apart, accidently shot himself in the abdomen. The Victim was then transported from NMMC-Iuka to Le Bonheur Childrens Hospital where he underwent surgery and was listed in critical condition. The Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department is currently treating this as an Accidental Shooting and no charges are being filed at this time.
