February 24, 2017
On February 23, 2017, Tishomingo Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on HWY 72 for a traffic violation. Once the vehicle pulled over, Sheriff’s deputies began approaching the vehicle. As the deputies came up on the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle, sped away from the officers. The deputies then began to go after the vehicle and the vehicle began eluding the officers. The pursuit did not cause any injures or damages and was quickly ended several miles after it began. The deputies then were informed by the driver that the reason why he refused to stop was due to being in possession of METHAMPHETAMINE, to which the driver informed the deputies he threw out the window. The driver was then transported to the Tishomingo County Jail.
ANTHONY SCOTT MERRYMAN, 28-year-old, of 800 West 2nd Street Iuka, Mississippi was officially charge with FELONY FLEEING. MERRYMAN remains in custody at the Tishomingo County Jail awaiting bond to be set by Justice Court.
